Rolling-up a Frontline Gaming and TABLEWAR(TM) F.A.T. Mat
over 10 years ago – Sun, Jun 22, 2014 at 01:06:35 PM

I have received a few questions about the best way to roll-up a F.A.T. Mat (formerly known as the Frontline Gaming and TABLEWAR(TM) MegaMat Gaming Mat). I will teach you how to go from this:

To this:

Here is what I do (mind you, I did roll up about 90 of these at the Las Vegas Open and realy got "good" at it)...There is a "magical" last step so follow-through to the end.

Firstly, it is best to roll the mat image side out. To do this, you can either flip your mat over or do what we do and simply pull back about half of the mat onto itself.

I then begin rolling the mat away from me and focus my first roll on the two ends; trying to keep them tight.

I then continue to roll forward. From time to time, I will pull the rolled portion of the mat towards me and then continue rolling. At this point, if it get a little crooked, don't worry too much (my last step always solves that).

Pull...and Roll...

Pull... and Roll...

and a final flip of the remaining mat... and a final Roll..

Once you have completely rolled up the mat, stand it upright on one end. Hold the corner of the mat on the outside of the roll and place your fingers from your other hand inside the center of the rolled mat. I then pull on the outside corner as I twist the inside of the roll the opposite direction. At the same time (this is the magic), I lift up and then drop the mat about 10 times letting the bottom of the upright mat hit the floor; this little trick is what straightens out a mat that is rolled a bit crooked.

Hope this helps! If you are still having a difficult time, try rolling your mat a few more times and it will become second nature. We will do this in video from at some point.
